The Spurs Writers' Club is the brainchild of esteemed author and former Chief Football writer of the Daily Express, Norman Giller, who has had 91 books published, including twenty with Tottenham legend, Jimmy Greaves. Norman has brought together forty-five writers and bloggers who are each contributing to the club's first book, Tottenham The Glory-Glory Game, due to be published in March, 2012. The book will be written by Spurs supporters for Spurs supporters, and the writers cover a wide age range having followed the club from the Tottenham successes of the 1950s 'Push and Run' era through the 'Double' winning days of the 1960s to the present day. There are experienced writers involved in the project with Norman contributing to the book and acting as editor, while student journalists are also participating along with ordinary Spurs supporters who enjoy writing about their club on blogs and websites.
Tottenham The Glory-Glory Game
This book is seen as the first in a series of books to be written about Tottenham Hotspur with the next one planned to cover the detail of the current football season which has seen Spurs make great strides towards re-establishing themselves as a title challenging club in the English Premier League.
Tottenham The Glory-Glory Game is concerned with that moment when a supporter realises that they have become attached to a particular club and there's no turning back. Everyone who supports a football team or any sports club will know that sense of having been drawn to the club. The book is all about pure nostalgia and reminiscing on the 'Spirit of Spurs' that has brought fans together through the wonder of a goal or a magnificent save by the goalkeeper. Each writer details their memory of that moment when they became a Spurs supporter.
New Concept in Book Writing
With so many people joining together to write on the topic, a book from the Spurs Writers' Club can be produced so much more quickly than by traditional methods as each writer will be designated a particular area of focus. Each chapter can be written more quickly and the final copy prepared for the publisher in a much shorter period of time, so having the book available while the events are still fresh in the minds of the public.
Currently, many people are rediscovering the joy of the art of writing through composing their blogs and contributing articles for websites, so there is an unending supply of writers available should some of the founder members of the Spurs Writers' Club decide to take on other projects in the future. Anyone who becomes an Associate member will have the opportunity to contribute to future books. However, at present the writers are looking forward to the publication of their first book while waiting in anticipation on news of the next project.
